Global Dysautonomia Awareness Month

In 2012, Dysautonomia International declared October of each year to be Global Dysautonomia Awareness Month. To our delight, many other organizations followed suit and joined in the celebration. The outcome of this year's Awareness Month exceeded our expectations, and that was because of the hard work of all of our volunteers across the globe. Here's a snapshot of our 2012 Global Dysautonomia Awareness Month campaign:

-Our volunteers held awareness events in several cities across the globe during the month of October.

-During the month of October, we raised about $10,000 for research.

-We reached about 300,000 people through our Tweet-A-Thon, which provided educational information on dysautonomia.

-Working with other organizations, we put together a network of regional support groups that already covers about 30 states and several other countries, and we expect to have additional regions covered by the end of 2012.

-Within one month from our official launch, we've been "Liked" by over 1000 people on Facebook and we've had about 900 patients add themselves to our Interactive Global Dysautonomia Map.

-We've been contacted by physicians and researchers from major institutions who want to help out and we got "high fives" from the autonomic experts at our first medical conference presentation.

None of this would have been possible without all of our wonderful volunteers and people who have generously donated their times, talents and money. We can't wait to see what the future holds for all of us. Working together, we CAN make a difference in the lives of people living with autonomic disorders!
